For 24-year-old Catherine Powell, music and photography have always been a package deal. She began photographing concerts at age 14, and was covering high profile tours for various web outlets within six months. Originally planting her feet in the alternative rock world, Catherine has branched out into every genre of music, shooting everyone from Taylor Swift to Drake; from Billy Joel to George Strait.
Following the success and praise of her live images, Catherine made the venture into celebrity portraiture at age 17 when she co-founded NKD Mag with Ariella Mastroianni. After Ariella left the company in 2013, Catherine continued to grow the brand into one of the largest digital publications around - toting an impressive 10 million unique readers to date. She currently functions as the monthly magazine's editor in chief and designer, and continues to take all of the photos in each issue.
At 18, Catherine moved to New York City to study photography at the School of Visual Arts. With the assistance and encouragement from the photography department, she was able to balance her thriving career with her academics. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in May 2016.
After a seven year emphasis on still images, 2016 saw the addition of video to Catherine's resume. With quick cuts and eye-catching clips, Catherine has been able to translate her signature, intimate style of shooting photos into moving images.
While New York is still home base for Catherine, the in-demand photographer bounces between Los Angeles and Nashville multiple times a year. She spent most of 2016 touring with rising popstar and YouTube sensation, Max Schneider, documenting his travels (as well as her own) with both still and moving images, before transitioning onto indie band flor's touring crew in 2017. She is available for touring in 2018.
